  • Traffic Flow

    Traffic Flow

At Constable Daniel Woodall School, we place the upmost importance on student safety.  Together, with parents and guardians, we can make sure all students get to and from school as safely as possible.  Please adhere to all city Bylaws and signage around the school parking lot as well as on the residential streets outside the front of the school.

    GENERAL INFORMATION:

    • Families living in the community are strongly encouraged to walk, bike or carpool to school.
    • Our 'hug and go' lane in the morning is only to stop and drop off students, not for parking.  If you wish to park, please use visitor parking or street parking.
    • Supervision starts at 8:25am which is a great time to drop off your children and avoid the traffic delays.

A few options for parents to safely pick up students are:

    • Superstore Parking Lot - We have secured an agreement with Superstore management that parents and visitors are able to park and walk over to the school.
    • Residential Roads Beside the School Park - This allows your students to safely walk across the back field to your vehicle.

Please note that our staff parking lot as well as the drive through lane (hug and go lane) are not parent/visitor parking spots and could result in a ticket.

    EXITING THE SCHOOL PARKING LOT:

When exiting the school lot, if making a left turn to head southbound on Windermere Road, stay to the left, and if making a right turn to head northbound on Windermere Road, stay to the right.

We encourage everyone exiting the school to turn right onto Windermere Road and loop around.  Turning left creates a significant amount of traffic in the school parking lot when busy.

    For additional information:

    • check out this step by step guide on our traffic flow and,
    • refer to this "traffic map" which will show you staff parking, visitor parking, hug and go lanes and school bus parking.

Thanks for working with us to make our school community a safe place to be!

  • School Philosophy

    School Philosophy

Constable Daniel Woodall believed in the power of hard work, reaching for one’s dreams and being an active citizen within his community.  His willingness to take on any challenge and contribute in any and every way that he could in whatever he was doing brought honour to his work as a police officer and to his family. We are very proud to continue his legacy and are committed to creating a school community that embodies these values and characteristics.

We support all of our students in a healthy, safe and caring environment that Constable Daniel Woodall would be proud of.  Our focus on leadership, service and well being will instill the lifelong values our students will depend upon to be successful global citizens.  In this positive learning environment where a culture of high expectations, leadership & kindness are our foundation, everyone will have the confidence to challenge themselves to be the best that they can be.

  • School Profile

    School Profile

Constable Daniel Woodall was a member of the Edmonton Police Service for eight years and worked in the hate crimes unit when he was killed in the line of duty June 8, 2015. Born in the United Kingdom, Constable Woodall always wanted to be a police officer. He served with the Greater Manchester Police for four years before moving with his family to Edmonton in 2006, where he joined the Edmonton Police Service.

Constable Woodall was a mentor in the community, known for being open and approachable with a playful personality. He was a dedicated student of martial arts where he took classes and mentored students interested in a policing career. Constable Woodall was passionate about police work and believed in the value of diversity and defending the community from abuse, hate and extremism. We strive to honour and nurture these values at our school every day.

The city has named a park in Constable Woodall's honour in South Terwillegar, at 7304 South Terwillegar Drive NW.

Thousands of people came from across and outside of the country to attend Woodall's regimental funeral.

The school in Windermere was selected to honour his work with the Southwest Division of the Edmonton Police Service. We are honoured to carry his name and his legacy in every day of learning and leading at Constable Daniel Woodall School.
