    STUDENTS NEW TO DISTRICT (INCLUDING KINDERGARTEN)

    The designated attendance areas for Constable Daniel Woodall  School: Windermere Estates North, Southeast and Southwest

    On Thursday, February 1, 2018, we began accepting 2017-18 Student Registration Forms for students new to Edmonton Public Schools living in our attendance area, including those children entering Kindergarten. Completed registration packages must include confirmation of address (a minimum of two of the following documents: utility bill, lease agreement, property tax bill, driver's license). Registration forms can be dropped off at any Edmonton Public School and will be forwarded to Constable Daniel Woodall School Administration.

    Children who will be four years of age on or before March 1, 2018 are eligible to register in Kindergarten for the 2017-18 school year. Please indicate your preference for the morning or afternoon class when you drop off your registration at an existing Edmonton Public School.  Reminder, we will consider your preference, however this does not indicate a guarantee of acceptance into the morning or afternoon class.

     

    School Information Night 

    Any families interested in coming to Constable Daniel Woodall School for the 2018-2019 school year are invited to our School Info Night! We will be having two info nights on Tuesday February 6th at 6:30pm and Thursday March 8th at 6:30pm.

    This will be a time for a school tour and to have our Principal and Admin Assistant answer questions about programming and registration.

Together we can create a school community that honours our staff, families and other partners while focusing on the learning and well being of all of our students.  The foundation of our school culture will be based on the relationships we build to support our students as they become strong leaders and learners. Together we will set high standards for academic success and well being that honours our cultural diversity and individual uniqueness while preparing our students for the challenges of growing up in the 21st century.  

    As the principal of Constable Daniel Woodall School, I am very honoured to be serving all of you. I am committed to ensuring your children have a safe and welcoming school environment. I believe each student can achieve to their potential, and become confident, contributing global citizens.  I look forward to meeting and working with all of you in the coming months as we work together to make Constable Daniel Woodall School a great place for all of our students and their families.

    School Philosophy

    Constable Daniel Woodall believed in the power of hard work, reaching for one’s dreams and being an active citizen within his community.  His willingness to take on any challenge and contribute in any and every way that he could in whatever he was doing brought honour to his work as a police officer and to his family. We are very proud to be the opening staff team of Constable Daniel Woodall School and are committed to creating a school community that will embody these same values and characteristics.

    We are a very enthusiastic, positive and supportive staff who will be working collaboratively to create a Learning Community.  We will support ALL of our students in a healthy, safe and caring environment that Constable Daniel Woodall would be proud of.  Our school culture will be infused with the teachings of the “Leader in Me” program.  We will also be an EverActive school.  Our focus on leadership, health and well being will instill the lifelong practices our students will depend upon today and tomorrow to be successful global citizens.  In this positive learning environment where a culture of leadership & kindness’ will become our foundation, everyone will have the confidence to challenge themselves to be the best that they can be.

    School Profile

    Constable Daniel Woodall was a member of the Edmonton Police Service for eight years and worked in the hate crimes unit when he was killed in the line of duty June 8, 2015. Born in the United Kingdom, Woodall always wanted to be a police officer. He served with the Greater Manchester Police for four years before moving with his family to Edmonton in 2006, where he joined the Edmonton Police Service.

    Woodall wa a mentor in the community known for being open and approachable with a playful personality. He was a dedicated student at a martial arts school in west Edmonton, where he took kung fu classes three times per week and mentored students interested in a policing career. Woodall was passionate about police work and believed in the value of diversity and defending the community from abuse, hate and extremism. 

    The city has named a park in Woodall's honour in South Terwillegar, at 7304 South Terwillegar Drive NW.

    Thousands of people came from across and outside of the country to attend Woodall's regimental funeral.

    The school in Windermere was selected to honour his work with the Southwest Division of the Edmonton Police Service.
